Our Company

A practice built on patience and honesty

Usaha was founded to give Selangor's small businesses a fair hearing — and a fair guide — when they decide whether AI tools have any place in their work.

Our Story

How Usaha came to be

Usaha — the Malay word for effort, or endeavour — was formed in Subang Jaya after its founders noticed something missing in the market. The conversation around AI had become loud, technical, and often unkind to people who simply hadn't had the time to follow it. Small business owners in Selangor were hearing about automation and machine learning from sources that assumed prior knowledge and skipped the basics.

The founding team decided to do something simpler: sit with business owners, learn how their days actually work, and then speak honestly about where a tool might help and where it probably wouldn't. No selling of platforms, no obscure technical roadmaps — just a considered conversation and a summary you could keep.

Since opening in Subang Jaya, we have worked with shopkeepers, small service firms, family-run operations, and solo practitioners across the Klang Valley. Each engagement has strengthened our conviction that the most useful thing we can do is slow down, listen well, and speak plainly.

Our Mission

What we set out to do

Make AI approachable

We translate technical concepts into everyday language that any small business owner can follow and use.

Give honest advice

We tell clients when AI tools are unlikely to help, not just when they are — because trust matters more than a sale.

Support at every step

From a first curious conversation to a months-long retainer, we shape our involvement around what you actually need.

How We Work

The standards we hold ourselves to

Strict confidentiality

Everything shared during an engagement stays within it. We do not reference, aggregate, or share client information. A written confidentiality agreement is available on request.

Written deliverables

Every engagement produces something written — a plain-language summary, a reference guide, or agreed notes — so the value doesn't live only in the conversation.

Tool-neutral advice

We have no commercial arrangement with any AI platform or software vendor. Our recommendations reflect only what we judge to be most suitable for your situation.

Scope agreed upfront

Before any engagement begins, we discuss and agree what is included. Changes to scope are discussed openly and not used as a reason to bill more without warning.

Client-led pace

We do not push for faster adoption than a client is comfortable with. The engagement pace is set by your team's readiness, not our schedule.

Data protection awareness

We are mindful of Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act in every engagement, and we flag any AI tool that raises data handling concerns relevant to your business.

Our Expertise

Considered AI consulting for Selangor small businesses

Usaha works in the space between curiosity and commitment — the place most small business owners find themselves when they first consider whether AI tools belong in their operation. Our consulting is not about selling a vision of the future; it is about looking clearly at the present and asking where a modest change might reduce friction in daily work.

Our team draws on backgrounds in operations management, business process improvement, and technology adoption. We have worked with businesses in retail, professional services, F&B, and administration. In each case, the approach is similar: we learn the rhythm of the business, identify one or two places where a tool could genuinely help, and then support the team through the first steps of using it — without rushing, and with clear materials to fall back on.

We believe that useful AI adoption in a small business looks quiet rather than dramatic. A scheduling assistant that saves forty-five minutes a week. A drafting tool that makes writing client emails a little easier. A simple process that reduces manual data entry on Friday afternoons. These are the changes that hold — because they fit the way a team already works, rather than asking the team to reshape itself around a technology.

If you are a small business owner in the Klang Valley or wider Selangor and you are wondering whether AI has any sensible place in your work, we would be glad to have a conversation about it — unhurried, and with no obligation to go further than that first session.
